Bedford turns to ground game, rips Skyline; Whiteford rolls to big victory

Bedford 32, Skyline 12

TEMPERANCE — The Mules used a punishing ground game Friday to overwhelm Skyline in a Southeastern Conference game.

Bedford (4-3) pounded out 322 rushing yards to 92 for the visitors, with Alec Hullibarger leading the way with 201 yards on 21 carries and touchdown runs of 1, 7 and 20 yards. Jonny Shepherd scored on a four-yard run and Dan Campbell on a one-yarder.

Skyline (2-5) got touchdowns by Willie Elam and Terry Jackson.

Whiteford 37, Whitmore Lake 7

Colin Lake rushed for two touchdowns and Gabe LaRoy threw for one touchdown to lead Whiteford (6-1).

LaRoy connected with Brian Tabbert on an 11- yard TD pass and Lake ran in from four and two yards out. Tyler Lee added 80 yards rushing and a two yard touchdown run. George Vergote recovered a fumble in the endzone to start off the scoring for the Bobcats.

Whitmore Lake’s only score came on a Dylan St. Charles pass to Jacob Zagor from 25 yards out.

Blissfield 22, Erie Mason 19

BLISSFIELD, Mich. — Lee Keinath’s four-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put Blissfield up for good.

Brad Lietzke, who led Blissfield (4-3) with 106 yards on 13 carries, scored the team’s first points on a 28-yard touchdown run. Later, Garrett LeRoy blocked a punt and Tyler Clark recovered in the end zone as the Royals led 14-13 after three quarters.

Kyle Karns and Chase Burlen scored on goal-line runs for Erie Mason (1-6), which also got a 50-yard fumble return for a score by Jesse Oyerbides in the fourth quarter to lead 19-14.

Oyerbides led the Eagles with 19 carries for 102 yards.

Britton-Deerfield 48, Summerfield20

PETERSBURG, Mich. — Leighton Merrit rushed for three long touchdowns for Britton-Deerfield. Merrit scored on runs from 35, 60, and 30 yards.

Josh Golkiewicz led Summerfield (4-3) with 97 yards rushing and an 18-yard TD run. Lucas Diver scored two TD, and completed 11 of his 26 passes for 111 yards.
