Findlay and Springfield vaulted to the top as the area’s best gymnastics teams this winter.

The Trojans, led by Alexa Settlemire, placed fourth overall in the team competition at the state meet with a score of 139.125.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils, who advanced to the state meet for the first time, finished 11th.

During the team event, Settlemire claimed fourth place in the vault and posted a team-best effort in the floor exercise. Erin Rauschenberg and Maranda Butler had the team’s top scores in the vault, and Tori Cox led the Trojans on the uneven bars and balance beam. Cox and Rauschenberg both added team bests on floor exercise.

In the individual competition the next day, Settlemire tied for fourth in the all-around. She placed third in vault and fifth in floor exercise.

Springfield — led by Jacey Gray, Cassie Frantz, and Caeli Barnes — won the Northern Lakes League championship for the first time.

Archbold’s Kinsey Smith placed third at state in floor exercise.

Notre Dame’s Kyra Schell finished seventh on the balance beam.
