Former Wauseon football coach Mark Emans hired at Lake

Former Wauseon football coach Mark Emans has been hired to take over the program at Lake.

Emans coached at Wauseon for 21 seasons before stepping down in May of 2011. Emans led the Indians to a Division III state championship in 1993.

Emans compiled a 118-99 record at Wauseon and his teams won four Northwest Ohio Athletic League titles. In 1993, the Indians went 14-0 en route to winning the state title.

Emans, a 1980 graduate of Eastwood, takes over at Lake for Bob Olwin.

In March, Olwin resigned after one season. He led Lake to a 4-6 overall record and 3-4 record in the Northern Buckeye Conference last season.

Emans played linebacker at Bowling Green State University for four seasons. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1984.

Emans started his teaching and coaching career at Arcadia. He stayed there for four years, leaving in 1990 to become a coach at Wauseon. Emans led the Indians to three playoff appearances.

Emans also will teach physical education at Lake.
