FINDLAY — Northwood scored seven runs in the first three innings and hung on to beat Ottawa Hills 8-6 Friday in a Division IV district baseball final.

Ottawa Hills had beaten Northwood two times this season in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference, 14-4 and 8-1. Last year, the Green Bears beat the Rangers 20-2 in a district game.

"It's been a tough challenge to beat them," Northwood coach Dave Russell said. "They're in our league so we face them often. They beat us twice this year and last year in districts, so it's good to come back and get a big win."

Justin Rohrs earned the win in relief, going 5 1/3 innings, giving up five hits and two runs, while striking out six. Jacob Davenport started the game and went 1 2/3 innings, allowing four runs.

"We made a couple mistakes early and had problems throwing strikes," Russell said. "But Justin came in and did a great job and our seniors really stepped up."

Evan Perkins and John Segura both knocked in two runs to lead the Northwood hitters.

Geoff Beans paced Ottawa Hills, going 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs.

Scott Tucker started for the Green Bears and allowed seven runs on seven hits.
