ABOUT THE TEAM:

Coach: Scott Seeliger, first year

Last season: 3-7, 1-6 NLL

Returning letter winners: 6

Returning starters: Offense 4, defense 4

Schemes: Pro Style/4-4

Top players: Senior T.J. Jacobs, 6-0, 240, OL-DL. Junior Ryan Emans ,6-0, 175, WR-DB. Sophomore Manny Carrillo, 6-2, 215, OL-LB.

Outlook: Seeliger, a former assistant coach at Bowling Green State University and Wisconsin, succeeds Steve Aungst, who resigned after three seasons with a record of 11-19.

Seeliger's previous experience as a head coach was at Sauk Prairie High School in Wisconsin from 1973-76 where he compiled a 28-7 record.

Among 70 players, 14 are seniors. But Seeliger said he has just three proven players, and is taking a wait-and-see approach with the others.

Emans led the NLL in receiving yardage with 43 catches for 801 (18.6 per catch) to earn All-NLL first team. Jacobs was named to the all-league second team on defense.

Seeliger said one attribute his team is sure to have is good conditioning. But possible lack of size, speed, and depth are concerns, according to Seeliger.

“Our players are in great condition and that will help us in the fourth quarter,” Seeliger said. “Lacking overall size and speed, to be successful we must have a total team effort on both sides of the ball. Execution will be the key to our season.”
