Outlook: Witker believes he has the Bulldogs heading in the right direction. The 54 players are the largest turnout during his tenure.

Harris, Williams, Harlett, Reyes and Sanderson are among a group of returning letter winners who are capable of leading the Bulldogs.

"Hopefully, we'll be competitive on Friday nights," Witaker said.

At quarterback, the Bulldogs are turning to McComb, a strong-armed sophomore. Witaker believes Gilsdorf, another sophomore, also has a chance to help the Bulldogs improve this season.
