Lawson’s 4 touchdowns lift Ayersville past Northwood

Ayersville 42, Northwood 34

DEFIANCE — Ayersville’s Luke Lawson scored four touchdowns as the Pilots edged Northwood on Friday night.

Lawson caught seven passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns, ran for a 25-yard touchdown, and added a 77-yard punt return TD.

Austin Zachrich scored on a 65-yard interception return for Ayersville.

Northwood’s Dominik Bermejo rushed for 137 yards and scored from 80 yards out.

Jake Davenport scored two rushing touchdowns for Northwood and had five carries for 68 yards.

Chantor Hayes ran in a score from 52 yards out for the Rangers, and Davenport added a 77-yard kickoff return touchdown.

Northwood rushed for 450 yards in a losing effort.

 

Van Buren 70,Ottawa Hills 7

VAN BUREN — Junior running back Ross Adolph ran for 177 yards and five touchdowns on 14 carries as the Black Knights rolled to a big victory.

Joey Nelson, Lucas Huber, Justin Phillips, Brendan Roszman, and Nick Devore all scored touchdowns for Van Buren, which ran for 378 yards. The Black Knights rolled up 544 total yards and held Ottawa Hills to 162.

Andrew Boesel scored the Green Bears’ lone touchdown with a 26-yard run.

 

Delta 42, Toledo Christian 0

DELTA — The Panthers scored a touchdown on defense and special teams in the first quarter, setting the tone for a an opening night shutout.

After a defensive score, Dylan Norstrant returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown. Noah Parsons threw TD passes of 58 and 41 yards to Jeffry McQuillin, who grabbed four receptions for 114 yards. Parsons and Dustin Marteney added TD runs for Delta, which outgained Toledo Christian 190-12 on the ground.

Overall, the Panthers dominated total yards 340-50.

 

Montpelier 14, Hilltop 0

WEST UNITY — Dallas Royer and Keegan Hitzeman each scored a touchdown, then the defense did the rest for the Locomotives.

Royer — who finished with 84 yards on 20 attempts — scored from three yards out in the second quarter.

Hitzeman, who rushed for a game-high 137 yards on 14 carries, added a 15-yard TD in the third for Montpelier, which controlled total yards 220-108.

 

Edon 46, Antwerp 0

EDON — Connor Hug scored five touchdowns to help the Bombers shut out Antwerp.

Hug scored three touchdowns in the first quarter — catches from five, 25, and 54 yards — to help Edon to a 26-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Hug added touchdown catches of 25 and 54 yards. Hug finished with six catches for 124 yards. Brock Thiel led Edon with six catches for 222 yards.

Edon quarterback Kaden Sapp was 13-of-16 passing for 349 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
