McDonald pass to Tyler lifts Southview

Southview 20, Findlay 17

FINDLAY — A fourth-quarter seven-yard touchdown pass Friday night from Griffin McDonald to Sterling Tyler helped Southview get past Findlay.

J.J. Pinckney caught a 34 yard TD strike from McDonald and returned a punt 60 yards for another score for the Cougar (2-1).

McDonald completed 19 of 26 passes for 186 yards and Pinckney caught 10 passes for 97 yards

Austin Gutting scored on a two-yard run early in the fourth quarter to give Findlay (1-2) a 17-13 lead.

Brandon Muehl scored on a seven-yard run for Findlay's and Grant McKinniss kicked a 37-yard field goal.

Muehl finished the game 12 of 25 passing for 169 yards.

 

St. Francis 41, Cleveland Collinwood 14

The host Knights (2-1) jumped out to a 27-0 lead after one quarter, stretched it to 41-0 by halftime, then coasted to a victory.

St. Francis, which topped Collinwood 258-119 in total offense, got touchdown runs of 12, 1 and 1 yards from Keontae Johnson, and a 41-yard TD pass from Tyler Thebes to Andrew Bonfiglio while building its lead.

Jacob Lang scored on a fumble recovery, and Nick Lankard passed four yards to Keaton Isaacson for the Knights' final score.

The Railroaders got two TD passes in the fourth quarter from David Ballew to Joshua Knox (12 yards) and Deondre Brown (30 yards).

 

Hilliard Darby 34, St. John's 14

Jacob Stacey rushed for two touchdowns and Darby (2-1) ran for 273 yards in a road win.

Nate Green of Darby passed for a touchdown and ran for another. Lorenzo Mclaurin added a touchdown run.

St. John's quarterback Nolan Silberhorn was 12 of 34 passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Collin Korte caught an 18-yard touchdown and Max McCormick added a 26-yard touchdown catch for the Titans (0-3). Korte rushed for 79 yards on 17 carries.

 

Detroit Cath. Central 23, Whitmer 0

DETROIT — Dylan Roney rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns as Detroit Catholic Central controlled the game.

Zach Vock added a 55-yard interception return for Catholic Central (3-0).

Whitmer (1-2) struggled on offense, only gaining 209 total yards and 10 first downs. The Panthers rotated quarterbacks Matt Winzeler and Chase Bodman and threw four interceptions.
