Eid, Miller capture sectional singles titles in girls tennis

Notre Dame junior Nina Eid and Northview senior Megan Miller repeated as singles champions at the Division I girls tennis sectional Saturday at Jermain Park.

Eid topped Amanda Fahoury of St. Ursula 6-1, 6-0 in the Section 1 final, while Miller defeated Emma Podolsky of Southview 6-2, 6-0 in the Section 2 final.

The top four in singles and doulbes advance to the district at Bowling Green.

Kaitlyn Dominiak of Central Catholic placed third in Section 1 by defeating St. Ursula's Angie Jacob 6-1, 6-2. Abbie Ciucci of Northview took third in Section 2 with a win over Wildcat teammate Geeta Rao 6-4, 6-2.

Alicia Nahhas and Teagan McNamara of Notre Dame repeated as Section 1 doubles champions with a 6-0, 6-0 win over the St. Ursula’s Celina Nowicki and Sydney Seeley. Jordan Cady and Lindsay Humbles of Notre Dame earned third place by defeating Emily Brown and Mallory Dennis of Central Catholic 6-2, 7-5.

In Section 2 doubles, McKenzie Krieg and Madison Smith of Anthony Wayne won the final over Kate Diment and Sam Howald of Northview 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.

AW’s Meredith Ash and Madalyn Kistner topped Southview’s Priya Singh and Keeley Brown 6-2, 6-4 for third place.

■ FINDLAY — Kaitlin Snider of Wapakoneta won the Division I sectional singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Nora Abdul-Aziz of Perrysburg.

Moira Sans of Perrysburg took third with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Rachel Roberts of Wapakoneta.

In doubles, Erica and Sarah Fastnacht of Perrysburg won the title by defeating Yellow Jacket teammates Jordan Spidel and Camryn Kiel 6-1, 6-0.

Erin Bosse and Emma Miller of Findlay placed third with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kiersten Wellons and Chelsea Myers of Wapakoneta.

■ DEFIANCE — Maumee Valley's Rochell Issa captured a Division II sectional title by defeating Carly Hollerbach of Rossford 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match at Defiance College on Saturday.

Megan Healy and Kelsy Berry of Ottawa Hills knocked off Ellie Hayati and Sally Frank of Wauseon 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 in the doubles finals.

Lilli Boice of Ottawa Hills defeated teammate Kirsten Berry 6-4, 6-2 for third place, while Linda McDonagh and Tiffany Short of Brya beat Hannah Hesterman and Shelby Cline of Archbold 6-1, 6-0 in the doubles consolation.

■ SANDUSKY — Haley Orr of Clay earned third place in singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Cassidy Yetzer of Ashland.

Clay dominated the doubles with Jennifer Belkofer and Emilie Roman besting teammates Cassidy and Bailey Coughlin 6-2, 6-4 in the final.
