Undefeated Comets breeze past Knights

Genoa 73, Otsego 26

TONTOGANY — The Comets led 21-0 after one quarter and 56-6 at one point in the second quarter Friday night to roll to a Northern Buckeye Conference road win.

Kevin Nutter finished with 173 yards rushing and four touchdowns, scoring on runs of 17, 1, 25 and 9 yards to lead Genoa (8-0, 5-0 NBC).

Logan Scott ran for a seven-yard TD and completed scoring passes of 22 and 52 yards to Casey Gose, who also had a 67-yard punt return for a score.

Jake Wojciechowski added a four-yard scoring run and Solomon Mutchler had a two-yard TD run, while also kicking a 21-yard field goal.

Otsego’s Cody Downs completed 9 of 26 passes for 123 yards, including TD strikes of eight and two yards to Schyler Scherff.

Cole Gorski added a one-yard scoring plunge for Knights (4-4, 2-3).


Woodmore 69, Fostoria 0

ELMORE — Evan Ulinski caught four touchdown passes and returned two punts for a touchdown as Woodmore (5-3, 2-3) routed Fostoria.

Ulinski caught three TD passes from Jake Matwiejczyk and one from Connor Bringman. He finished with 10 catches for 134 yards and also had a 45 and a 50-yard yard punt return TD.

Matwiejczyk was 13 of 15 passing for 214 yards and five touchdowns. He found Malachi Brown and Logan Fonseca on TD strikes of 28 and 30 yards respectively.

Tony Rozzi led the ground attack with 16 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns (10, 3 yards).

Fostoria (0-8, 0-5 managed only 109 total yards and earned just five first downs.


Lake 59, Elmwood 14

BLOOMDALE — Jared Rettig completed 14 of 19 passes for 250 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Flyers.

Rettig connected with Adam Duncan for TD tosses of 17, 12 and 51 yards. Duncan caught eight passes for 154 yards. Rettig's two other touchdowns went to Todd Walters and covered eight and 42 yards.

Branden Short ran for 133 yards on 11 attempts, including a seven-yard scoring run in the first quarter. Marcel Bryan and Jacob Rettig also had rushing TDs for Lake (6-2, 3-2).

Noah Baker ran nine yards for a TDn and threw a 21-yard scoring strike to Aaron Arnold for the Royals (1-7, 1-4).
