    Coldwater bounces Eastwood

Eastwood hung with perennial powerhouse Coldwater for one half, but the defending state champions proved to be too explosive offensively and stingy defensively on Saturday night.

The Cavaliers have reached the state title game four straight years and have qualified for the playoffs 16 seasons in a row. Coldwater scored 21 unanswered points in the second half and knocked off the Eagles 42-16 in a Division V regional playoff opener. GALLERY

    Huron dashes past Liberty-Benton

Huron showed off its explosiveness in a big way Saturday night as the Tigers had three runs for over 50 yards.

But it was a sweet over-the-shoulder 43-yard catch by Nick Stauffer to start the fourth quarter that helped the Tigers pull off a 28-14 Division V, Region 16 quarterfinal win over Liberty-Benton.

Whitmer struggles in loss to Hudson

There will be no four-peat of reaching the Division I state football semifinals for Whitmer.

A familiar playoff foe, Hudson, assured that Saturday night in a first-round playoff matchup by defeating the Panthers in a 31-7 victory.
