A Boater s and Bird Watcher s Paradise on Lake Erie

This week s featured home, 8881 White Crane Way, has a very nice interior. But it s what s outside that is the real draw: birds, boats, and a laid-back, let s go fishing lifestyle.

GreenCove Villas Lake Erie Resident and Resort Community, off Route 2 near Oak Harbor, is nestled beside the Western Basin of Lake Erie, home to pleasure boaters, birdwatchers, fishermen and weekend island-hoppers. Take the short walk from our feature home to the lake s edge and you might see Canadian geese and their babies, cormorants, snowy egrets and great blue herons, as well as otter and deer. You can even see the great American eagles that live here. On the way, you ll pass a marina where charter boats are docked between excursions. In the community are a convenience store, a restaurant and tavern, fuel docks with pump out station and launch ramps. And at the lake itself, you ll find a sandy beach for swimming or simply relaxing and enjoying the sunset.

Does it sound like a resort? It does have many resort amenities, with even more to come. But this isn t a place to come to just for a weeks vacation. These 1,386 square foot villas are permanent homes where you can stay weekends, for a season, or all year round. They are constructed with the strength of a 2 x 6 frame on a steel I-beam under structure, OSB board exterior wrap, and finished with vinyl siding. A great insulation package is included with these homes, including energy-saving double paned windows. These are very sturdy and energy efficient villas.

The front of the beautifully-landscaped residence has a 6' x 12' covered porch; it's the private lanai off the master bedroom, with sliding glass doors. To the side of the home is a beautiful wood deck leading up to the main entrance of the home. There is also a full 8' x 26' covered porch, with a sliding glass door on the canal side, overlooking the two optional boat slips.

Inside, a woodburning, corner fireplace with stone surround, and a finished wood mantle grace one corner of the living room. Next to it is a 42-inch high definition TV with surround sound standard with most homes.

Next is the dining area, with room enough for a full-size table and chairs. A built-in buffet with five cabinets and a tile backsplash is perfect for storing dishes or table linens. The kitchen offers a peninsula snack bar, center island, maple cabinetry with crown molding, and top of the line stainless steel Whirlpool brand appliances. Just off the kitchen is the utility room with yet another entrance, a wood deck landing and stairs.

A short hallway leads to the bedrooms and the guest bath with maple vanity and vinyl flooring. The bedrooms off the hall are ideally suited for guests, but the master suite at the end of the hall well, the owners will surely want this all to themselves. It features a large bedroom with two walk-in closets, and a master bath that is downright luxurious. There are a step-in shower with two seats, a large whirlpool tub under a garden window, and a maple double vanity with tile backsplash. Complete window dressings are included in all homes.

The villas are constructed with eight-foot, flat textured ceilings. If you so desire, cathedral ceilings are also available.

Two boat slips per villa are optional, as is an additional 12' x 12' custom wood sundeck. Each villa also has a poured concrete drive with parking for three vehicles, and an 8 x 16 custom-built storage building with electric, vinyl siding, a double paned window and steel insulated, side by side entry doors. It matches the villa perfectly, and offers storage for your boating equipment, beach toys, and maybe a private golf cart for getting around the communities and marinas.
