This week s featured home, at 701 Meadowchase Lane, won the Villa of the Year Award for 2007 from the Home Builders Association of Greater Toledo. And it s easy to see why: it combines an open floor plan with accessibility features for older homeowners who wish to age in place.

Best of all, it is Energy Star rated, meaning that the home has been built with energy-saving features throughout, including a high-efficiency gas furnace and 13 SEER air conditioner, NuWool WALLSEAL insulation, triple seal casement windows with low-E glass and argon gas, and a house wrap to prevent air infiltration. The exterior is linen vinyl with a light brick skirting. The poured concrete walkway slopes gently to the covered front door there are no stairs to navigate! The wide doorway could easily accommodate a wheelchair.

The tile floor in the foyer looks warm and welcoming, and separates this area from the rest of the home. To the left is a closet for guests coats. To the right is a lovely bedroom, shown here as an office. The vaulted ceiling here is quite fashionable, and a ceiling fan helps keep the room comfortable.
