Real estate is a tough business these days, whether it is new development or existing home sales. Many people, tired of trying to sell their homes and having little luck, have opted to stay put.

But when the home doesn't meet their current needs, homeowners begin to think about remodeling.

Enter Ciboro Construction. In the home pictured on these two pages, the homeowners were not happy with their master bath, and wanted to create a home spa. They worked with Doug Ciboro to create the bathroom of their dreams.

He eliminated the wall between the bedroom and the bath, creating an archway with cherry columns at the corners. Next came Tuscan stone flooring, complete with thermostatically-controlled radiant heat. Imagine waking up to a warm stone floor underfoot on cold mornings!

A built-in cherry bookcase houses the controls for the surround sound, as well as the heat generator for the nearby steam shower. With all the stone surfaces, the room's acoustics are wonderful, and you feel as though you're enjoying a concert all your own.

A jetted tub is a focal point of this room. The large oval tub projects into the space, and is highlighted by a verde marinace granite top and Tuscan stone surround. The tub may be filled via a spigot on the side, or by a fountain head mounted to the wall, giving it a true Tuscan look.

While this bathroom has many fine points, the highlight has to be the domed ceiling. A deep dome, it is painted in shades of dark blue with brighter hues subtly interspersed, and is reminiscent of the night sky. A richly worked silver chandelier hangs from its center, and is accented by silver-painted molding around the perimeter. The walls of the bathroom are topped with crown molding and uplighting for a subtle glow.

A deep cherry archway stands above the granite-topped marble vanity. The granite is a delight, with large pink discs swimming in the green stone. It is illuminated by recessed lights, and handy makeup mirrors pull out from the wall. Square undermount sinks are served by polished nickel fixtures for a sleek look.

A steam shower is large enough for two, and includes a granite, U-shaped seat. Four Kohler rainfall showerheads and six separately-controlled his-and-her body sprays make sure water reaches all of you. A round window allows natural light from the master bedroom, and a glass door keeps the water inside the shower.

Next is a private water closet with a built-in magazine rack. Another built-in holds your heated towels.

Finally, the walk-in closet was relocated and remodeled to create this one-of-a-kind space for storing clothes and more. Built-in armoires in varying heights and woods – painted black and cherry stained – lend a traditional feel to this space. A cedar closet is tucked away in a corner.

Doug Ciboro of Ciboro Construction worked closely with the homeowners to achieve the look they wanted. He has been a builder and remodeler since 1983, providing total home solutions from concept to completion, and is proud to say 99 percent of their work is based on customer referrals.

In fact, the owners of the home shown here had this to say:

“Doug Ciboro had proven his trouble-shooting skills after tracing and problem-solving leakages in two condo buildings affecting 21 units. Our unit was one of those. After repairing the exterior backside, he put together a plan for our three-phase remodel. He transformed our tired 1980s spec into a home of distinction, with classic style and a customized European look. We needed to remain in our home during the remodel, and he not only delivered on time and on budget, but maintained a clean, safe, livable, working environment. A contractor/project manager like Doug is essential. We definitely feel that Ciboro Construction gave us our money's worth during every aspect of our remodeling projects!”

Every fixture used in the bathroom and closet pictured was top of the line — and the cost of the project reflects that. Ciboro Construction, however, will bid on jobs in a variety of price ranges. They are licensed, bonded and insured, and will be happy to provide a detailed estimate.
