  • Stickley Furniture Company corporate historian, Mike Danial, will conduct a Stickley Road Show at Betty Rumpf Interiors beginning at 7 p.m. May 31, 2012.

Throughout the past 37 years, Danial said he has discovered Stickley Furniture Company and Stickley collectors are bound with "magical" stories about their favorite pieces of furniture. From Grandpa's favorite chair and Mother's linen cabinet to the Hope Chest passed down generations after generations, Danial said the Stickley Road show highlights these stories and more from families who have enjoyed the Stickley experience for several generations.

After helping man the front lines as a furniture maker in the Stickley factory for more than 10 years, Stickley stumbled upon the idea of a road show presentation in 1985, which he continues in venues throughout the country. Today his presentations are given to veteran collectors adn novices alike.

In addition to personal stories, the road show delves into the reasons why some pieces of furniture may be destined to become family heirlooms while others may end up in next summer's garage sale.

As we move more and more into the ‘throw away’ mentality, the knowledge of preservation and care is being lost. The road show recovers some of that lost information. And it is surprising how easy it is to care for fine furniture once the shroud of furniture care misinformation is cleared.
