Stopping unwanted pregnancies
The whole purpose of emergency contraception is to avoid an unwanted child or an abortion.
As opposed to Mifepristone (RU-486), emergency contraception cannot and will not terminate a pregnancy. It will, a high percentage of the time, within five days of unprotected sex, stop women from getting pregnant, working exactly as the millions of birth control pills used every year.
