Political lip service

Wherever the budget ax may fall, I wish to thank Mayor Jack Ford for his sincere letter wishing me a happy birthday and signed by him. But then he turns around and sends me, a Toledo firefighter, a lay-off notice with Jay Black's signature on it.

If a person is going to lead, then that person should lead when times are good or bad. Mr. Black would not have sent out the notice without the mayor's approval. Or is Mr. Black running the city?

Thanks for the political lip service.
