Letters to the Editor

Moody can turn the city around

In response to your editorial A question of trust, let me be perfectly clear: I have the utmost respect for The Blade and I recognize the power of the press.

However, there are much larger issues than the Internet.

Families in Toledo and across our nation are fighting to survive foreclosures; raising their children; not enough jobs; keeping food on the table; affording utilities, and the ability to stay afloat.

As a 50-year volunteer for the Lucas County Democratic Party, and one who has helped dozens of candidates get elected over the years, snubbed, but remained loyal, it is time to have a reality check.

I am supporting Jim Moody because he is a man of integrity and has a real economic development plan to bring Toledo back to its potential.

Jim is committed to ending business as usual and partisan politics, which has created an environment with constant bickering instead of progress. Mr. Moody would like to run the city like a business and avoid the good old boy network.

If you want to discuss trust and pettiness, do not judge Mr. Moody unless you also judge Keith Wikowski and Councilman Joe McNamara, when Keith managed his campaign for Toledo City Council. They both went against party rules, showing up at Democratic functions as an unendorsed candidate; sending out a post card to deceive voters into believing Mr. McNamara was endorsed by the Democratic Party and Gov. Ted Strickland. This was a ploy to win at all cost.

Nothing personal against Keith; I was a member of the Young Democrats when his father Art was president of the group. His father was a good man.

I believe in being fair, and letting voters decide who is best fitted to turn this city around.

Shame on Rep. Marcy Kaptur and The Blade for their desire to limit freedom of speech, another step towards socialism, under the guise of the Fairness Doctrine.

Anyone who does not like the programming of a radio station has the freedom and choice to change channels.

Perhaps the liberal Blade should be forced to balance its content with an equal amount of conservatism on every subject.

The true reason for this scam by Ms. Marcy and company is to muzzle opposition and force liberal idealism and more socialistic law on our nation. Karl Marx would be proud.

Thank you, Outdoors Editor Steve Pollick, for an inspirational and uplifting series about your time in Michigan s Upper Peninsula. What a gifted writer!
