Does UW need two lawyers?

3/17/2010

The Blade published a picture on March 12 of United Way CEO Bill Kitson flanked by two lawyers. I assume, based on their positions in the photo, that they were representing Mr. Kitson and/or the United Way (“United Way demolition OK’d,” March 12).

I also assume that they were paid for the representation. Why would Mr. Kitson need two lawyers for a meeting of the Toledo Plan Commission?

Mr. Kitson said that delaying the decision on the future of the building for six months would cost $100,000, and that would affect the funding of agencies that help the needy.

Wouldn’t the price of two lawyers have the same result?

It appears that the heads of our social agencies waste many of the dollars provided by hard-working donors.
