Lourdes’ interim leader eyes more growth

7/8/2012

It is my honor and privilege to serve as Lourdes University's interim president for the 2012-2013 academic year, as the university embarks on a national search for a new president.

In my prior role as provost and chief academic officer, Lourdes forged a multitude of academic partnerships with area institutions, achieved a 10-year accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, and grew the breadth of its undergraduate and graduate programs.

In the coming year, Lourdes will continue to strengthen as an institution, further enhancing the academic and economic impact it has on this region by expanding academic programs through the establishment of additional endowed chairs and professorships.

We will create new student scholarships, increase partnerships with employers in the region, and enhance community outreach programs such as Appold Planetarium, the Center for Science Education and the Environment, and Lifelong Learning.

We will establish additional study-abroad initiatives, explore the development of new partnerships with other academic institutions, and offer our First-Year Experience program to promote a successful transition to college.

Our community has always been a strong partner with Lourdes in providing a values-centered education. Our growth as an institution has enhanced not only the educational excellence of our region, but also its economic growth.

I look forward to working with everyone in our region. Together, we can accomplish much.
