Dantin stepped up when UT needed him

LETTERS TO THE SPORTS EDITOR

It has been documented that this has been a very difficult year for University of Toledo quarterback Austin Dantin.

After having years of early success, his senior year became a test of his character. Mr. Dantin started the season’s first game as the starting quarterback. Over recent past seasons there has been a rivalry for who would start at quarterback, Terrance Owens or Dantin. It so happened that Dantin, after the season’s first game this year, lost the position to Mr. Owens.

Undoubtedly, this had to be the worst possible development in the final year of his college career. I’m sure he had a difficult time dealing with the situation, but he made the right decision. He toughed it out and he would be ready to help his team if his number was called again. Well it happened, his number was called and he stepped up and performed — five touchdown passes in a 35-23 UT victory over Akron .

Good luck Austin, wherever you go.

Congrats to Panthers

Congratulations to Toledo Whitmer. Your guys came out and handed it to our Massillon Tigers. Great game plan, and speed to burn.

Hope to play you guys in the future. Good luck in the playoffs. Nice band also, but please, no more Michigan fight song at halftime.
