Making noise over Turnpike traffic

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Residents who live along the Ohio Turnpike between the Maumee and Perrysburg interchanges endure horrible traffic noise. We have tried to get help from turnpike officials, only to be told that no noise barrier will be built.

It is time the turnpike authority takes responsibility and constructs some sound barriers in areas that are affected by high decibel readings.

Editor’s note: A turnpike spokesman said noise readings will be taken along that stretch of the toll road next spring, before construction of an additional lane in each direction, and after the project is completed in 2014 to determine whether construction of the third lane has any effect on noise levels. If so, there would be discussion of noise-mitigation methods.
