You had a fine article on June 24 about the Perrysburg’s plan to improve its waterfront (“Perrysburg plans ambitious overhaul of riverfront parks; $26M proposal includes theater, ice rink, docks”). The plan calls for moving the statue of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry to provide a better view of the Maumee River.

I later drove through that intersection and looked at the statue. You only have to go upriver a few hundred yards to get an outstanding view of the Maumee.

Perrysburg wouldn’t be what it is today because of the man that statue represents. It seems fitting that it sits on the edge of downtown of the city named for him.
