The Toledo-Lucas County Plan Commission will meet tomorrow to discuss the creation of a dog park in South Toledo by a group called Toledo Unleashed.

The group, which promotes chances for dogs to socialize and to be safely off their leashes in the Toledo area, has planned the park at the former South Toledo YMCA site in Woodsdale Park since 2009. The organization applied in June for a special-use permit for four acres.

The city has sent the group a tentative $1-per-year lease and a draft permit, which if approved by the planning commission will go to Toledo City Council's zoning and planning committee Sept. 11.

Those unable to attend the 2 p.m. meeting who wish to voice opinions may write to the commission's director, Tom Lemon, who may be reached at Suite 1620 in One Government Center or via email at thomas.lemon@toledo.oh.gov.
