Golfers teed off at 7:30 a.m. today for the opening round of the LPGA's Marathon Classic at Highland Meadows Golf Club.
Alison Walshe leads the field with a 6-under 65, ahead of Jessica Shepley and Karine Icher.
Shepley completed a 5-under round at 66, while Icher finished her round at 4-under (66), and is one of four golfers tied for third. Lexi Thompson, Natalie Gulbis and Jacqui Concolino are still on the course.
"I had a good game plan for the entire course," Shepley said. "I knew where I wanted to hit my tee shots, and what parts of the green I wanted to hit for a specific pin."
