Tickets are now available for Jam City, a fund-raiser for Food for Thought at which top chefs offer their unique takes on the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Custom wines and locally crafted beers will be paired with the lunchbox classic, and live music will provide the soundtrack. Jam City will be May 22 at the Secor Ballroom.
You also can purchase raffle tickets for a prize of a $50 gift card to every restaurant participating in Jam City. They include Balance Pan-Asian Grille, Burger Bar 419, Deets BBQ, Mancy’s Steaks, Registry Bistro, and Swig; many more will be joining.
Peanut butter and jelly are the staple ingredients in Food for Thought’s outreach to those in need of food assistance, and the chefs’ versions are as unique as the restaurants they represent. This year, there also will be a special dessert category.
Tickets are $30. For more information, go to feedtoledo.org/jamcity.
Last call to vote
Monday is the last day to vote for the People’s Best New Chef 2014 at Food & Wine.
The magazine names its own choices for America’s 10 most brilliant up-and-coming chefs every year. But it also wants to know whom you think is the most talented new chef in America. Go to foodandwine.com/blogs/2014/03/24/the-peoples-best-new-chef-vote-today to read about the 100 chefs who have been selected from around the country (yes, there is a section for the Great Lakes states), then vote for your favorites. The chef with the most votes will be named The People's Best New Chef for 2014.
On April 7 from 6 to 8 p.m., local celebrities will work for tips at the Real Seafood Co. in International Park to support Bethany House. All proceeds will help to sustain long-term, transitional housing and support services for local victims of domestic violence and their children.
To make reservations, contact Deidra Lashley at 419-727-4948 or firstname.lastname@example.org or Kim Marion at 419-843-2300 or email@example.com by Tuesday.
