Red Cross asks for blood donors

1/12/2005

Local Red Cross officials are appealing again for area residents to give blood to help offset a shortage.

The Western Lake Erie Region of the American Red Cross, which provides blood to 23 hospitals in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, reports that the recent bad weather prevented many donors from giving.

It has only 1.4 days of inventory available, less than the three days it considers ideal.

The donor center in West Toledo at 3510 Executive Pkwy. is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday. In addition, blood drives are scheduled in many area counties. Call 419-539-1009 or 800-448-3543 to schedule an appointment or for information.
