Compass sets session on steroids

Compass Corporation for Recovery Services is sponsoring a conference featuring a well-known female sports writer, a team physician, and local doctors to address steroids and the high school athlete.

The Sept. 19 conference is to run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Franciscan Center at Lourdes College in Sylvania.

Panelists for the event include national sports writer Christine Brennan, a Toledo native; Dr. Robert Kruse, medical director of Sports Care and team physician for the University of Toledo; Dr. Joseph Assenmacher, an orthopedic surgeon, and Dr. Lurley Archambeau, medical director of the Lucas County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.

The conference is free and open to the public.

School administrators, coaches, athletic trainers and doctors, and other medical professionals, as well as parents are encouraged to attend.
