ProMedica leaders given added roles

ProMedica Health System has announced more than a dozen management changes that will expand roles of some corporate leaders and change those at the helms of several hospitals, effective Aug. 11.

Among corporate leaders, Barbara Steele, president of ProMedica's central, south, and east regions, will add the health system's two remaining regions to her duties.

The current president of the north and west regions, John Horns, will become president of Lake Erie Regional Cooperative/Amerinet and regionalization.

Flower Hospital President Kevin Webb will take over the presidency of Toledo Hospital, replacing Gary Gordon, who retired from the president's position earlier this year.

Dr. Kathy Carlson, president of Toledo Children's Hospital, will replace Mr. Webb as president of Flower Hospital.

Dr. Mike Ruhlen, vice president of medical affairs at Toledo Children's Hospital, will add the position of children's hospital president.

Gary Cates, vice president of operations for ProMedica Continuing Care Services, will become president of Defiance Regional Medical Center, replacing Tim Jakacki, who is president of Fostoria Community Hospital.

Mr. Jakacki, who will continue as president of the Fostoria hospital, also will be president of Perrysburg Medical Center and oversee development for ProMedica's south region.

Other management reorganization moves within ProMedica include:

•Steve Mooney, president of ProMedica's Health, Education, and Research Corp., will assume expanded responsibilities for clinical research activities and be chief materials management officer.

•Jack Randolph, president of ProMedica Insurance Corp., will be responsible for customer satisfaction services and ProMedica's call center as well as be chief merger, joint ventures, and acquisitions officer.

•Barbara Petee, vice president of advocacy, community, and government relations, will be chief advocacy, government, and community relations officer as well as chief communications officer.

•Sheila Schwartz, senior vice president of philanthropy, will be chief philanthropic officer.
