Tiffin firm sued by state over drugs
5/17/2013The Ohio Attorney General's Office has filed a civil lawsuit against a Tiffin business that it alleges sold synthetic drugs to customers.
Mike DeWine, Ohio Attorney General, announced the filing of the suit Thursday against Zig Stag, 20 E. Market St. Tiffin. The business is accused in the suit of engaging in “unfair, deceptive, and unconscionable acts by selling synthetic drugs as legal products,” the office stated in a news release.
A nuisance abatement was also filed in an effort to close the business for one year.
In February, authorities with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation worked with Seneca County's Drug Task Force and the Ohio Department of Taxation to serve a search warrant at the business.
During the search, investigators claim to have found evidence that the business sold synthetic cannabinoids, also known as herbal incense, with such names as “Shpark in the Dark” and “Atomic.”
The lawsuit is one of eight filed this year so far against businesses accused of selling synthetic drugs, the Attorney General's Office reports.
