The Sylvania Community Action Team reported more than 150 pounds of medication collected during the annual Drug Take Back Day.

Sylvania Township and Sylvania City Police each collected unwanted medication on April 27.

The take-back day, held twice a year, aims to divert prescription drugs from being sold illegally and to prevent possible overdoses in children.

About 100 pounds of unwanted drugs were received by the township police and about 50 pounds by the city police.

Both police departments have a box for daily collection of unwanted medication.
