The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department said today that Juki’s Tattoo in Maumee has been operating without a proper license.

In Ohio, operating without a proper license and not meeting safety and sanitation standards is illegal. Operating without a license can endanger the health of customers getting a tattoo or body piercing, county health officials say.

Potential health risks include bacterial infections as well as blood borne diseases such as HIV/Aids and Hepatitis B and/or C, officials said.

Concerned customers who received a tattoo or body piercing from Juki’s Tattoo in Maumee since October, 2009, are advised to see a physician and to contact the county health department at 419-213-4132.
