There will be a free health care enrollment event March 3 at the University of Findlay. The event will be held in room 107 in the Brewer Center of Health Sciences.

Health-care navigators and counselors from CareNet will provide assistance with enrollment in the federal Medicaid program from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

And then beginning at 12:30 p.m. the navigators will help uninsured residents choose a health plan in the Affordable Care Act health exchange marketplace.

Those interested can make an appointment by calling the United Way’s 211 assistance phone line.

Those with incomes below $11,490 for an individual and $23,550 for a family of four may be eligible to enroll in Medicaid and pay no monthly premium under the state’s expanded program that was also put in place by the Affordable Care Act.

Under the Affordable Care Act, most adult Americans under age 65 will be required to have health insurance by April 1 or face a fee of $95 or 1 percent of their annual income, which would be assessed when they file 2014 taxes.
