COLUMBUS — Three state lawmakers from northwest Ohio have been named to a new panel created to help control costs and improve the quality of care under the federal-state health insurance of last resort.

The Ohio Medicaid Oversight Commission was created separately from Gov. John Kasich’s recent expansion of Medicaid.

House Speaker William Batchelder (R., Medina) and Senate President Keith Faber (R., Celina) recently named five members each to the panel.

Among them were vice chairman Rep. Barbara Sears (R., Monclova Township); Rep. Robert Sprague (R., Findlay); and chairman Sen. David Burke (R., Marysville). Mr. Burke sponsored the bill.
