Walbridge dons teal cancer-awareness ribbons

BLADE STAFF

Teal ribbons will hang on Main Street and in Veterans Park in Walbridge Village during September in recognition of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. The ribbons will go up Aug. 31 and be removed during the first few days in October, Mayor Ed Kolanko reports.

Athens Missionary Baptist Church in Walbridge, and Kathy Mannon, a member, are behind the awareness campaign. The village is not directly involved. Ms. Mannon is to attend the Sept. 3 Village Council meeting to discuss her efforts. Mayor Kolanko said he plans to wear an Ovarian Cancer Awareness T-shirt to the meeting as a show of support.
