The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has confirmed another case of hepatitis A, this time in an employee at an Aldi grocery store in Sylvania.

Patrons who purchased unwrapped fresh produce between April 26 and May 13 “may have a slight risk” of getting hepatitis A. All other store patrons “are considered at low risk,” according to a statement from the department.

The store, located at 5539 Monroe St., will undergo a “deep facility cleaning” and employees will be offered a vaccine.

Hepatitis A is a liver disease that can be spread by ingesting food or water contaminated by feces or through sexual contact. Symptoms include fatigue, fever, nausea and vomiting, jaundice, dark urine, pale stool, and joint pain.

Eight cases of hepatitis A have been identified in Lucas County in 2018.
