ADRIAN - A Sand Creek, Mich., man will be sentenced Aug. 20 for his role in stealing a woman's purse at gunpoint while she loaded groceries in her car.

Lucan Woodruff, 22, pleaded guilty yesterday to assault with intent to rob while armed. His trial was set to begin in Lenawee County Circuit Court before Judge Timothy Pickard.

Woodruff and Kenneth Nolan, 21, of Adrian are accused of approaching a woman in the Country Market parking lot on Nov. 27 and taking her purse. Four other charges will be dismissed at Woodruff's sentencing, including armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The woman wasn't hurt, and police found the purse and its contents.

Nolan pleaded guilty Jan. 2 to unarmed robbery.
