ANN ARBOR Michigan fell to another ranked team Tuesday night, this time to its in-state rival.
Playing a team ranked in the top 25 for the third time in four games, the Wolverines fell 54-42 to No. 9 Michigan State. UM lost to No. 1 Connecticut Saturday night and No. 16 Purdue on Jan. 31.
There was salt to be poured in the Wolverines wounds all around Tuesday night. In the game s waning moments, MSU s sizeable road crowd yelled just like football from the rafters, evoking memories of the Spartans win at the Big House last fall.
UM s DeShawn Sims led all players with 18 points off the bench. Kalin Lucas had 15 points and Delvon Roe added 14 for MSU (20-4, 10-2).
UM (15-10, 5-7) was held to a season-low 15 points in the first half and shots 31.6 percent with eight turnovers. The Wolverines last points of the half came with 5:31 left.
