A year ago, didn't it seem like everything was going right for Michigan? This year, the struggles have come early and have become apparent.

Last week, Michigan had to fight to the last play for a 31-25 win over Air Force -- in a game where Michigan entered as a double-digit favorite. The key to beating Air Force isn't about breaking down the Falcons. It's simply keeping pace with and ultimately outscoring them.

Where's the balance in that?

While they're considered the favorite, the Wolverines (1-1) need a dynamic all-around effort against a former FCS program that is in its third week of an FBS schedule.

Michigan will be reunited with a familiar face in running back Michael Cox, who played at Michigan for three seasons. Expect all pleasantries to be put aside when the Wolverines host the Minutemen for the second time in three years.

Do you remember that last meeting? UMass scored in the final three minutes of regulation to cut Michigan's lead to 42-35. It might be different this year. With the Big Ten schedule looming, the Wolverines won't win games simply by outscoring their opponents -- that would be either too easy or too difficult.
