Wolverines can still share Big Ten crown

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Trey Burke had 26 points and five rebounds to lead No. 7 Michigan's rally to an 80-75 victory over Purdue on Wednesday night.

Terone Johnson scored a career-high 35 points and Rapheal Davis added 15 for Purdue (14-16 7-10 Big Ten), who have lost five of their last seven games.

Nik Stauskas had 17 points and Tim Hardaway, Jr. had 16 points and five rebounds for the Wolverines (25-5, 12-5), who have won four of their last five games and remain in the race for a share of the Big Ten title.

Hardaway's 3-pointer with 3:46 left gave Michigan a 66-64 lead.

Stauskas made free throws and a 3-pointer to extend the lead and Burke added two free throws with 20 seconds left to make it 77-73.

Purdue's Dru Anthrop tossed a pass across the lane to freshman A.J. Hammons who dunked to give the Boilermakers a 29-28 lead with 2:39 left in the first half.

The Wolverines missed a shot and Ronnie Johnson made two free throws to make it 31-28.

Hardaway hit a jumper before Terone Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Boilermakers a 34-30 halftime lead.

Michigan tied the game early in the second half and Glenn Robinson III and Hardaway scored before Purdue went on an 11-2 run to again pull away.

Sandi Marcius scored for Purdue to give it a 36-34 lead and he dunked after a missed 3-point attempt by D.J. Byrd.

When Marcius went to the bench, Davis went to work.

He was fouled on a layup with 17:12 to play and hit the free throw to make it 41-34 and then added two free throws to give Purdue a 43-34 lead.

And the Boilermakers still weren't done.

Terone Johnson scored Purdue's next nine points, including a three-point play with 13:13 left to make it 48-39 on the way to a 52-40 lead.

Burke started Michigan's big run with a 3-pointer and Stauskas later hit a 3 to make it 54-48.

Burke made two free throws to make it 55-50 and Robinson made two more from the line to make it 55-52 with 7:43 left.
