Wolverines beat Irish 41-30

Final

ANN ARBOR - Drew Dileo's fourth-quarter touchdown lifted the Michigan football team to a 41-30 win over Notre Dame tonight at Michigan Stadium.

Quarterback Devin Gardner spearheaded Michigan’s offense, going 21-for-33 passing for 294 yards for four touchdowns, and receiver Jeremy Gallon finished with eight catches for 184 yards and three touchdowns.

Michigan (2-0) hosts Akron at 12 p.m. Sept. 14 at Michigan Stadium.

Jeremy Gallon's third touchdown has helped Michigan take a 34-20 lead over Notre Dame going into the fourth quarter tonight at Michigan Stadium.

Troy Niklas' 20-yard touchdown with 4:55 left in the third cut Michigan's lead to 27-20, but Gallon capped off a seven-play, 70-yard drive three minutes later with a 13-yard touchdown catch from Wolverines quarterback Devin Gardner.

Gallon has seven catches for 177 yards and three touchdowns entering the fourth quarter.

 

Halftime

Jeremy Gallon has five catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns, helping Michigan to a 27-13 lead over Notre Dame at halftime at Michigan Stadium.

Kyle Brindza's 55-yard field goal less than a minute into the second quarter tied the game at 10-10.

Aided by a pass-interference call against Irish safety KeiVarae Russell, Michigan took a 17-10 lead on Gardner’s 2-yard touchdown run with 8:43 left in the half, and Brindza’s second field goal, a 24-yard kick with 5:49 left in the half, cut Michigan’s lead to 17-13.

Gibbons' second field goal gave the Wolverines a 20-13 lead, and Blake Countess' interception with less than two minutes left helped set up Gallon's second touchdown, a 12-yard catch, with 1:09 left in the half.

Jeremy Gallon's 61-yard touchdown catch has given Michigan a 10-7 lead over Notre Dame after the first quarter tonight at Michigan Stadium.

Brendan Gibbons gave the No. 17 Wolverines a 3-0 lead six minutes into the game on a 44-yard field goal, and Gallon gave the Wolverines a 10-0 lead less than four minutes later

T.J. Jones' 4-yard touchdown catch with 2:01 left for No. 14 Notre Dame cut Michigan's lead to 10-7.
