Da'Shawn Hand to play for University of Alabama in 2014


Da'Shawn Hand, ranked as the No. 1 football recruit in the country by, made his college decision today, and he did not select Michigan.

Hand, a 6-foot-5, 262-pound defensive end from Woodbridge, Va., will play for the University of Alabama in 2014. In a nationally televised show on NBC Sports Network, Hand selected BCS champion Alabama over Michigan and Florida.

Many analysts expected Hand to select Michigan. But one thing set Alabama apart.

“Why not go where there’s a great possibility that you can win a national championship?” Hand told NBC Sports Network today.
