Iowa dumps Michigan 24-21

    IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Mike Meyer's 34-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter helped Iowa come back from a 14-point deficit to earn a 24-21 win over Michigan today at Kinnick Stadium.

    Mark Weisman's 9-yard touchdown run tied the game at 21-21 three minutes into the fourth to help the Hawkeyes erase a 14-point deficit, as Iowa converted on fourth-and-2 from the 25-yard line.

    Meyer's kick gave Iowa (7-4, 4-3 Big Ten) its first lead with 6:02 left.

    Michigan (7-4, 3-4 Big Ten) closes the regular season at noon Nov. 30 against Ohio State at Michigan Stadium.

     

    THIRD QUARTER

    IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Tevaun Smith's 55-yard touchdown catch two minutes into the third quarter helped Iowa cut Michigan's lead to 21-14.

    Smith caught Jake Rudock's pass on his fingertips, then broke a tackle before running for the end zone to bring the Hawkeyes within seven.

    Michigan was unable to capitalize on Raymon Taylor's interception with less than five minutes left in the third.

     

    HALFTIME

    A.J. Williams caught a 2-yard touchdown pass with 8:31 left in the first half -- his first touchdown catch at Michigan -- and Jeremy Gallon's touchdown catch in the final minute of the half helped the Wolverines to a 21-7 lead over Iowa.

    Iowa had the opportunity to cut Michigan's lead to 11 points with less than 10 seconds left, but holder Connor Kornbrath was unable to properly place the snap for kicker Mike Meyer, which ended Iowa's final drive.

    Gallon leads the Wolverines with four catches for 44 yards. Mark Weisman leads Iowa with seven carries for 43 yards.

     

    FIRST QUARTER

    Brennen Beyer intercepted Iowa quarterback Jake Rudock in the second minute of the game to help Michigan take a 7-0 lead over the Hawkeyes today at Kinnick Stadium.

    Iowa kicker Mike Meyer's 36-yard field goal attempt went wide right seven minutes into the game, but with 3:39 left in the first, C.J. Fiedorowicz's 5-yard touchdown catch helped the Hawkeyes tie the game at 7-7.

    Iowa's offense outgained Michigan in yardage, 117-19, in the first quarter.
