Office for Civil Rights to visit UM

ANN ARBOR — Representatives from the United States Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights will be at the University of Michigan next week as part of a review of the university's sexual misconduct policies and programs.

The review is part of a federal Title IX investigation stemming from the expulsion of former Michigan football player Brendan Gibbons for violating the school's student sexual misconduct policy.

The OCR staff will meet with student groups and will hold three open office hours sessions next week.

The OCR is asking to speak to a member of the UM OCR review team about the case.

NIGHT GAME: Michigan will host Penn State in a televised night game this season at 7 p.m. Oct. 11. It will be the third night game in Michigan Stadium history. The game will be broadcast on ESPN or ESPN2.

Missouri suspends Green-Beckham

ST. LOUIS — Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was suspended indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules, three months after he and two friends were arrested on suspicion of felony drug distribution when police found a pound of marijuana in their car. No criminal charges have been filed in that case.

Green-Beckham was also charged in October 2012 with marijuana possession in Columbia and later pleaded guilty to second-degree trespassing.

He led Missouri with 59 receptions as a sophomore last season and scored 12 touchdowns.
