LOS ANGELES — Police say they’ve taken a knife-wielding woman into custody after she barricaded herself for more than five hours in the Hollywood Hills home of an actor from the “American Pie” movies.

The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/15gQGfl) reports Wednesday that Eddie Kaye Thomas, who played Paul Finch in the “American Pie” film series, was not in the house during the standoff.

Police Lt. Andrew Neiman says the woman spent the night at the home but became angry when the property’s owner asked her to leave, and armed herself with the knife.

Police including negotiators and sharpshooters arrived at the home shortly after 1 p.m., and were unable to draw the woman out until they used flash-bang grenades and tear gas at about 6:30 p.m.

The woman’s name has not been released.
