DETROIT  — Filming for the next installment of the “Transformers” movie franchise is attracting attention in downtown Detroit.

As fans gathered for Wednesday’s Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park, people also tried to get a glimpse of filming for “Transformers 4” near Grand Circus Park.

More filming is planned. The Detroit Department of Transportation says the Rosa Parks Transit Center in downtown Detroit will be closed from 5 a.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday for filming by Paramount Pictures.

“Transformers 4” filming took place earlier this year in Lenawee County’s Fairfield Township along a stretch of state highway.

The Michigan Film Office has said the state approved a $20 million incentive for “Transformers 4.” The movie is directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg.

It’s set for release next summer.
