Way Public Library to show film ‘42’

A free presentation of 42, a film about the late baseball player Jackie Robinson, and a lecture about a local company's coffee roasting will be offered this week at the Way Public Library.

The film recounts the story of Mr. Robinson, the first black player to break Major League Baseball’s unofficial color barrier in the 20th century when he played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. It stars Chadwick Boseman as Mr. Robinson and Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey, the Dodgers’ longtime general manager and president, who in 1945 signed Mr. Robinson to join the Dodger organization. Mr. Robinson's uniform number was 42; it has been retired by all Major League teams.

The film is rated PG-13, but the library lists its screening, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, for adults only.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, Richard Jambor of Maddie and Bella Coffee Co. will discuss how he brews the company's coffee in his Perrysburg garage and offer tasting samples of two different, hand-poured coffees. Admission is free, but space is limited and registration is required at the library's information desk.This event is for adults only.
