Toledo actress Flora Jones stars in a new film, The 10th, that will be screened at 7 p.m. Friday at the Maumee Indoor Theatre, 601 Conant St. The movie, presented by Michigan-based Emerald Sky Performance Arts, tells the story of four African-American families who put their working-class Detroit lives behind them to seek success in the upscale suburb of Birmingham, Mich.

Jones plays Sharon Dupre Cash, the only female African-American attorney at a powerful Boston law firm, who becomes a single mother when her husband is killed in an auto accident. After his death she moves to Birmingham, where she raises her 17-year-old son alone. She eventually runs into an old college flame, Dre Cash, who is now an FBI agent, said Shaun Whitehead of AIP Talent Agency, who was casting director for The 10th. Jones won the role over about 20 other actresses who had auditioned, Whitehead added.

The film was written and produced by Barika L. Pace and directed by Jerry J. Hayes.
