The Mud Hens are on their first losing streak in more than three weeks after falling 10-6 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs tonight at Fifth Third Field.
After Jordan Lennerton’s 12th home run of the season — an opposite-field shot to left — gave the Hens a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Toledo came undone.
Fill-in starter Ramon Garcia (2-6) allowed seven runs on 12 hits over five innings.
He retired his first four hitters and escaped a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the second on a double-play liner. But the hints of trouble were real. Garcia gave up four runs in the third — the key blow a three-run double by Josh Fields — and three more in the fifth.
The loss was Toledo's second straight — and marked the Hens’ first losing streak since a sixth straight defeat on May 26. Toledo began the night an International League-best 13-4 in June.
