9/25/2007

The Mud Hens will open the 2008 season the same way they ended the 2007 season facing Durham at Fifth Third Field.

Toledo will begin its home season on Thursday, April 3, against the Bulls, the first of 15 games the Hens will play at home in April.

The Mud Hens 2008 schedule also includes 18 games in May, then 13 games each in June, July and August. The final home game of the season will be played against Columbus on Friday, Aug. 29.

That contest with the Clippers is one of nine home games to be played on Friday nights next season. Toledo, the top farm team of the Detroit Tigers, also will host 12 games on Saturdays and 12 on Sundays.

The Mud Hens, who have won the International League s West Division title in each of the past three seasons, will host Buffalo, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, Monday through Thursday, May 26-29.

The newest member of the IL, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, will make its first appearance at Fifth Third Field Monday through Thursday, May 5-8. Last year the Lehigh Valley team played in Ottawa.

Last season the Mud Hens set an attendance record for the third consecutive year, drawing 590,159 fans in 70 home dates. Over the past three years Toledo has drawn 1,716,534 fans to Fifth Third Field, the ninth-largest total among 175 teams in minor league baseball.
